Being fortunate enough to have an abundance of musical influences such as Jazz, Soul, Rap, R&B, Rock & Roll and more, the art of mixing and blending vinyl almost came together naturally for Kenichi Thomas aka DJ Just Nine. With the powerful influence of Hip Hop culture, perfecting the craft of DJing consumed his life from a young age. That same desire to perfect his craft has been noticed throughout the Twin Cities and beyond earning DJ Just Nine spots on Rhymesayers Entertainment's Atmosphere tours, taking part in Rock the Bells Hip Hop Festival, playing multiple Soundset Hip Hop Festival’s and acted as Rhymesayers Ent. artist I Self Devine’s tour DJ for five years.

During that time he has also been acting tour DJ for Hip Hop artist Greg Grease as well as playing countless club nights throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul. Partnered with Greg Grease, he has performed numerous events and festivals including 10,000 Sounds Festival, CMJ Music Festival, Stone Arch Festival, SxSW Festival, A3C Hip Hop Festival, SoundSet Festival and more. Together with Greg Grease, he also teamed up with fellow musicians MMYYKK, Proper-T, Trelly Mo and Art Parté to create the future-funk-afro-soul band ZULUZULUU. The band's debut project "What's The Price" has earned critical acclaim in Minnesota, including City Pages' "Picked to Click" Best New Band, Star Tribune's "Critics Poll" #1 Album of 2016, and more.

Just Nine is a DJ that understands the essence of what it means to be a Hip Hop DJ; planning sets with the emcees he works with by using his craft to grab and hold any crowds attention. His precision with blending, cutting and scratching the records during his live sets is reminiscent of DJ's Jazzy Jeff, Mixmaster Mike, Qbert, Premier, Rob Swift, and A-Trak and has lead to many placements on albums both locally and beyond. Mixing his favorite songs spanning multiple genres of music, DJ Just Nine is always ready to rock any party.
